ASI Lightweight Snake Gaiters – proudly made in South Africa, are flexible snake gaiters that weigh 220 grams each. The outer shell is made of 400 g/m2 Riptech™ material, which is water resistant and designed to deal with the harsh climatic conditions experienced throughout Africa, while the inner shell is made of two layers of DuPont™ – Kevlar® micro filament yarn. It is very finely woven material that renders exceptional protection against fragmentation, with an anti-stab capability. These two layers are stitched into an inner casing of high tenacity nylon (parachute material). The gaiters are one size fits all with a YKK® zip at the back. Each gaiter is adjustable at the back and has a loop for a shoelace to fit through on the underside. The Lightweight Snake Gaiters have been tested against bites from the Puff Adder, Cape Cobra, Snouted Cobra and Black Mamba with no penetration during testing. Ideal for hikers, birders, fly-fishermen, geologists, bush-clearing teams, hunters and mountain biking.

Introducing the newest edition to the Johan Marais range of snake tongs – the JM Snake Handler Tong has been designed with the serious snake remover in mind.
Shorter than our 1 m tongs to enable the snake remover to neck the snake comfortably.
Based on our best selling PRO series, the JM tongs come with a few important modifications, which have been tried and tested. We have extended the upper jaw of the JM tongs so that the overbite extends 3.4 cm and the tongs work far better because of this. (in most snake tongs the overbite only extends around 1.5 cm – or less in the cheap Chinese imports)
We’ve also decreased the gap between the upper and lower parts of the jaw when the tongs are closed – this should be no larger than 1 – 2 mm.
In other words the two sections should nearly touch. Otherwise the snake is easily pinched and it is impossible to catch smallish snakes.
We’ve also added a double crimp to the steel cable.

The ASI Universal Field Hook is made from industrial aluminium and tested to lift up to 3 kg.
This versatile three-piece snake hook measures 40 cm when completely disassembled and 1.2 m when fully assembled. It can also be assembled as a two-piece, which measures 80 cm. It comes in it’s own tie-up sleeve. Great for travel, and for working with venomous snakes in tanks.
