Our mission

Build confident young cricketers through real match experience

StrikeZone focuses on player growth from U9 to U18 by combining competitive fixtures, safe matchday operations, and consistent development standards across every age group.

Develop Skills

Every player gets meaningful game time to build technical ability, tactical understanding, and confidence under real match pressure.

Protect Standards

Structured fixtures, vetted staff, and clear conduct rules create a safe, respectful environment for players and families.

Grow Character

Beyond results, we coach teamwork, discipline, accountability, and leadership that help young athletes on and off the field.

Cricket that develops the whole player

StrikeZone Cricket League was founded in Johannesburg to give young South African cricketers a structured, competitive, and enjoyable league experience — from the moment they can hold a bat at Under 9, all the way through to Under 18.

We believe the best way to develop a cricketer is to put them in real match situations and track their progress season by season. Every child who plays in StrikeZone leaves with a digital career record, real match experience, and a love for the game.

Most school-going kids play cricket at school, but many still do not get enough real match time to build confidence and improve consistently. StrikeZone fills that gap with regular competitive fixtures and equal opportunities to bat, bowl, and learn in game situations. Cricket also builds life skills beyond the boundary: players learn teamwork, communication, discipline, and leadership while handling both wins and setbacks with maturity.

More than just a game

Five reasons why StrikeZone is the best place for your child to grow as a cricketer and as a person.

Digital career profile from day one
Every player's runs, wickets, averages, and match history are tracked season by season. Your child can look back at their U9 debut when they're playing U18 finals.
Parents stay connected — live
Can't make it to the match? Follow ball-by-ball on your phone via the live scorecard link. Get WhatsApp alerts the moment your child hits a fifty or takes a wicket.
The Impact Player format
Our signature rule gives teams a second chance and makes matches exciting until the final over. Tactical decision-making that teaches captains and players to think differently.
Safe, supervised, structured
Matches are overseen by trained officials. Qualified umpires are appointed where available, and all matchday staff are vetted. Grounds are selected for safety so parents can trust the environment.
A clear pathway from U9 to U18
Register at Under 9 and grow with StrikeZone through every age group. The same platform tracks your child's career across all seasons — no starting over, no losing history.
Official player T-shirt, yours to keep
Every registered player receives an official StrikeZone T-shirt printed with their name and a squad number of their choice — so they feel like a professional from the very first match day.

How we play

Standard T20 cricket rules apply throughout, with one league-specific addition that makes StrikeZone matches unlike anything else your child will play in.

T20 format — all age groups
All StrikeZone matches are 20 overs per side, played across weekends, and use hard ball only. Every child is guaranteed batting and bowling time in each match.
Playing 11 and squad size
Each team fields 11 players per match. Squads can carry up to 15 players. Rotation is encouraged at younger age groups.
Bowling restrictions
Maximum 4 overs per bowler per match across all age groups. The Impact Player bowling extension at U15 and U18 allows one nominated bowler to bowl up to 6 overs.
Points system
Win: 2 points · Tie: 1 point · No result: 1 point · Loss: 0 points. Net Run Rate (NRR) is the tiebreaker for equal-points teams.
Code of conduct
Players and parents are bound by the StrikeZone code of conduct. Dissent toward umpires, sledging, and unsportsmanlike behaviour are not tolerated at any level.
Signature rule
The Impact Player format
1
Second-chance batting: Each team nominates one Impact Player who can bat again if dismissed — turning every wicket into a tactical decision.
2
Extended bowling: The nominated bowler can bowl up to 6 overs — perfect for deploying your best bowler in a tight finish.
3
U15 & U18 only: The rule applies at older age groups, giving younger players time to master the base game first.
