League rules

Clear rules make better cricket

StrikeZone keeps the core of standard T20 youth cricket while adding a league-specific format feature that makes older matches tactically sharper and more exciting.

How we play

Standard T20 cricket rules apply throughout, with one StrikeZone-specific addition that makes the competition feel distinct at the older age groups.

T20 format across the league
All matches are 20 overs per side, played on weekends, and use hard ball. The format gives players enough time to influence games while keeping fixtures practical for families.
Playing 11 and squad use
Each team fields 11 players per match. Rotation is encouraged at younger levels so developing players still get match exposure.
Bowling restrictions
The standard cap is 4 overs per bowler per match. At U15 and U18, the Impact Player rule allows one nominated bowler to go longer when strategy calls for it.
Points system
Win: 2 points. Tie: 1 point. No result: 1 point. Loss: 0 points. Net Run Rate is the tiebreaker where teams finish level on points.
Code of conduct
Respect for umpires, coaches, teammates, and opponents is non-negotiable. Dissent, sledging, and unsafe behavior are not part of the league culture.
Signature rule
The Impact Player format
1
Second-chance batting: Each team nominates one Impact Player who can bat again if dismissed, turning wickets into strategic moments.
2
Extended bowling: The nominated bowler can bowl up to 6 overs, creating a meaningful tactical choice late in the match.
3
U15 & U18 only: Younger players first learn the base game well before the advanced format rule is introduced.
